Riverland grower SMS alerts

If you’re a commercial grower in the Riverland, you can sign up to receive SMS alerts if there’s a confirmed Queensland fruit fly detection on your property. These alerts are one of the fastest ways to stay informed and protect your crops.

Why sign up?

  • Early warning: If fruit fly is detected on your registered property, you’ll get a direct SMS — often before other channels like email or your packhouse can notify you.
  • Act faster: Early knowledge means you can adjust baiting routines, review hygiene measures, and check at-risk areas before the risk spreads.
  • Stay compliant: In some cases, PIRSA staff will need to visit your property for inspection or baiting. Alerts help you prepare in advance and avoid disruption.
  • Protect your patch: Your quick response helps protect neighbouring properties and supports the Riverland’s pest-free status — critical for market access.

Signing up is free and takes just a few minutes.

What you’ll need to register

  1. Your business name
  2. Your business ABN
  3. Your postal address (residential or a PO Box)
  4. The address information for all properties you'd like to receive an SMS for
  5. The property valuation number (a 10-digit number on your council or water rates notice) for each address.

Complete the fruit fly notification registration form.

Providing false or misleading information is an offence under the Plant Health Act 2009.
