Posting restricted fruit and vegetables

Sending uncertified fruit, vegetables and plant material in the post to South Australia is prohibited.

This includes fruit and vegetables at risk of fruit fly, and any plants with fruit on them.

Fruit, vegetables and other plant material sent through the post can carry fruit fly eggs or larvae or other harmful pests and diseases, even when the items look healthy or clean – learn more about plant pests and diseases.

Check before you order

Some items are prohibited from entering South Australia, while others must meet specific entry requirements, including certification. This applies to online purchases and gifts from family and friends.

Many interstate businesses are certified to send selected fruit, vegetables and plant material to South Australia.

Before ordering from an interstate business or supplier, check that what you want can legally enter South Australia.

If your family or friends wish to post you something, or you're buying from an informal site like Marketplace, check the requirements on posting any fresh produce or plant materials to South Australia.

Please help protect South Australia from pests and diseases.

Received plant material?

If you have received something you are unsure about, seal the item and its packaging in a plastic bag and call the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline for advice.
