Treatment of stone fruit

These treatment options are available for stone fruit growers to access South Australian markets only.

For the Riverland Pest Free Area, use either of the endpoint treatment options.

For Metropolitan Adelaide and all other regions, use any of the below treatment options, dependent on type of fruit fly.

Endpoint treatment options

ICA-04 Fumigation

Not an accepted treatment for plums.

Treats Queensland fruit fly only in mangoes.

ICA-07 Cold treatment disinfestation

Not suitable for all commodities.

Systems approaches and other treatment options

These options are for Queensland fruit fly only.

CA-32 In-field treatment, monitoring and inspection of stone fruit systems approach

Note minimum 4 weeks prior to harvest spraying requirements.

CA-33 Pre-harvest monitoring, bait spraying and post-harvest inspection suitable for organic production

Not available in the 1.5 km outbreak area.

Note minimum 6 weeks prior to harvest spraying requirements.

Guidelines

This treatment option allows growers and resellers to regain access to the Adelaide metropolitan market without fumigation.

To use the CA-33 operational procedure, individual growers must use baiting and on-farm management controls for a 6-week period to demonstrate freedom from Queensland fruit fly.
