Riverland shopping options for restricted fruit and vegetables
Various shopping options are available for local Riverland residents and regular travellers through the area, including those who cannot easily source products inside the Riverland Pest Free Area (PFA).
Shopping locally
We encourage you to continue supporting local shops inside the Riverland PFA.
Some businesses in Walker Flat, Swan Reach, and Blanchetown have worked hard to expand their stock and offer a greater selection of fresh fruits and vegetables to support their community.
Transporting the produce
When fruit fly outbreak restrictions are in place, you can move fruit and vegetables purchased at Riverland shops across all fruit fly affected areas. You must:
- Retain your itemised receipt.
- Seal the fruit and vegetables in a bag or container while moving them.
This applies only to Riverland shops – home-grown fruit cannot be moved from properties in a red outbreak area.
Shopping outside the Riverland PFA
Retailers on the fringe of the Riverland PFA can become accredited to sell restricted fruit and vegetables that meet the requirements to enter the Riverland PFA.
This means you can buy fruit and vegetables from an accredited retailer and bring them into the Riverland PFA, if you have an itemised receipt from within the last 14 days.
Home delivery retailers may stock a mixture of accredited and non-accredited fruit and vegetables, but only accredited fruit and vegetables will be delivered into the Riverland PFA.

The following retailers are accredited for either in-store shopping, or home delivery. These may change regularly and with no prior notice.
