Glynde outbreak grower meetings

29 January 2025

Following a new Queensland fruit fly outbreak declared in Glynde, PIRSA held two key meetings at the SA Produce Market and at Hahndorf to speak with growers and industry about the impacts ahead.

These meetings were an opportunity to share information with growers and industry representatives who had questions about managing market access requirements and challenges. Acting Director Biosecurity Operations Con Poulos, along with Incident Controller Jason Size, attended both meetings.

The outbreak declared on 22 January means that restrictions apply when moving home-grown and commercially grown at-risk produce. These restrictions apply within a 15 km radius of Glynde, affecting the inner suburbs of Adelaide and parts of the Adelaide hills region.

Mr Poulos acknowledged that many wine grape growers in the Adelaide Hills were coming in to harvest season, and encouraged them to contact PIRSA's Market Access team to discuss treatment options and certification requirements.
