Treatment of citrus

These treatment options are available for citrus growers to access South Australian markets only.

For the Riverland Pest Free Area, use any of the endpoint treatment options.

For metropolitan Adelaide and all other regions, use any of the below treatment options, dependent on type of fruit fly.

Endpoint treatment options

In August 2023, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) proposed to suspend the registration and labels of chemical products containing dimethoate, used as a post-harvest dip for tropical and sub-tropical fruit with inedible peel.

The APVMA remains satisfied that all other approved uses of dimethoate are safe. For more information, see:
